Approved by the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform, The National Research Center for Rehabilitation Technical Aids (Shortened Form "Center") is founded on the basis of the extension project of the former Research Institute of Prosthetics and Orthopedics. Now the canter's operation scope and function field is far more widened and enlarged than that of the former Research Institute of Prosthetics and Orthopedics. It's main operation field includes: research for rehabilitation technical aids and special equipments theory and clinical application, develop the technology of the rehab technical aids and special equipments, study out the standards in the rehab technical aids professional field, undertake the quality supervision and testing work for the rehab technical aids, undertake the relevant training and information service work.

    According to , people acknowledge that the total investment amount of this project is around 0.27 billion RMB, and it's total construction area is 26650 square meters.

    Our center has 110 quotas of the staff on the regular payroll, and implements a very new employment system called " appoint sb to a position." The center is an institution owned by the Civil Affairs Ministry of P. R. China, and implements a system of job responsibility, which is called " under the leadership of the council, and the director of our center take the responsibilities." The president of the council is one of the ministers of the Civil Affairs Ministry of P. R. China who is in charge of the center.

    According to the definition made by the ISO, Technical Aids means that: Products, devices and equipments or technical system which can prevent, substitute, inspect, release the deformity effectively. The Application of the technology of the rehab technical aids, especially for the deploying of the rehab technical aids is the most effective method which can help disable and mental problem people, elderly and patients return to the society.

    At this moment, our center is located in Chaoyang District of Beijing. The address is: A6 Baijiazhuang Road, chaoyang District, Beijing. In order to improve working conditions, we plan to build up a new site in Beijing Yizhuang business developing zone. The new address of our center will be: No.1, Ronghuazhong Road, Block3, Yizhuang business developing zone, Beijing, P. R. China. Now the new site is under construction!
